- Roughly half the stiffness of any synthetic, and no other material is close. Collagen from cow serosa, stretches and gives it back.
- multifilament~165–190 lb/in
- Thousands of microfibres imitating gut; soft next to poly, but measures level with synthetic gut rather than below it. Frays under spin.

- Solid nylon core plus wraps; the budget all-rounder.

- Stiffest and spinniest, lowest energy return, biggest tension drop — and by far the widest band, so 'poly' says much less about stiffness than it sounds like it does.
